AS Roma intend to play hardball with Manchester United over their interest in midfielder Daniele de Rossi.
United had high-level scouts posted to see Roma lose to Napoli on Saturday.
Their presence has sparked speculation United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is reviving his long-term interest in De Rossi - who he sees as a candidate to replace Paul Scholes.
Roma are about to change hands and the new owners will demand players should United make a concrete offer.
The American group want Kiko Macheda and Anderson included in any offer from United for the 27 year-old De Rossi.
