New recruit Paartalu impressing at Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar’s Erik Paartalu is impressing in his role as midfield general at his new club.

The 24-year old former Greenock Morton midfielder has settled well in the A-League and his performance in the 1-0 win over Sydney FC on Saturday night was a major reason why his side grabbed all three points against the reigning champs.

Paartalu played a shut down role on Sky Blues marquee man Nick Carle, getting the job done as the ex-Crystal Palace man was taken off in the 77th minute, and now wants to continue that good form as the season goes on.

"If I'm playing against an attacking midfielder like him, it's my job to close them down. I was pretty pleased with the way it went . . . he was pretty quiet,” Paartalu told the Courier-Mail.

"It's been a good start for me and hopefully I can keep building on it and keep impressing with my performances.

"I like to think that I just go about my job quietly and try to be effective for the team. I'm not going to score a bundle of goals, but hopefully I can stop them and break down the opposition."
