New Real Madrid fullback Danilo has revealed he's spoken with coach Rafa Benitez.

Danilo was forced out of Brazil's Copa America campaign with an ankle injury, but will be ready for the start of Real's preseason.

On Benitez, he said: 'I talked to him a little bit on the phone, I told him how my recovery was, we talked a little about the new challenge.

"It was short, but gave me the understanding that he cared for me and that made me very happy."

He continued: "I am aware that I have to build from day to day, workout to workout. I know that at some point people may raise questions, doubts, but I'm well prepared for that, with the passage of time I will show the player I am.

"But as I said, it is not going to be in the first or in the second game."
