The San Jose Earthquakes walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo yesterday. Cam Weaver and Ryan Johnson each recorded a goal in the second half to lead San Jose to the win in cool and windy conditions.
Weaver put the Earthquakes on the board in the 62nd minute. Weaver struck a volley from just a few yards out thanks to a cross from Johnson. The goal was the first allowed by Houston in four pre-season matches. Johnson secured San Jose's lead to 2-0 in the 69th minute with a low shot to the near post that beat Hall.
With the Houston Dynamo taking the San Jose franchise away from Northern California several years ago the rivalry between the teams when San Jose regained their franchise last season has always been one fixture to watch.
Pre-season is one thing however, friendly this was not, as Kei Kamara was sent off for Houston with a straight red card for a hard tackle on Nick Garcia in the Earthquakes' box.
