New Portsmouth stadium on hold

Plans for a new stadium at Portsmouth are on hold and instead the club will focus on redeveloping Fratton Park.

Last year the club announced it would go ahead with the construction of a 36,000-capacity ground but those plans have been shelved and their current home will be extended to a capacity of 30,000.

A new stadium does remain part of the club's long-term goal but with the current global economic crisis, they could not see a way to make it happen comfortably.
