Oldham chief executive Alan Hardy says the club's new manager was chosen because of his "excellent contacts" in the game. The Latics will unveil their new boss at a press conference on Wednesday when it is widely expected that Paul Dickov will be confirmed as Dave Penney's successor.
The League One outfit have so far refused to reveal the identity of their new man but the 37 year old looks certain to land the post.
Hardy told the Oldham Chronicle: "The man we've chosen has excellent contacts in the game.
"That was important to us and one of the key parts of the criteria we set out when we started interviewing people."
