New Northampton boss Aidy Boothroyd aims to trim the Cobblers squad once he has assessed the quality of his players. Former Watford, Colchester and Coventry manager has inherited a League Two squad of more than 30 players.

"That many players is too much but I want to give everyone the opportunity to be part of what we want to do here, and that will happen over coming months," Boothroyd told Sky Sports News.

"The first thing is to make sure the players are on board and I will meet them tomorrow (Thursday). We have some good players at this level and I need to find out about them and find out why we haven't been performing at the level we should be."
