New Malaga owner chasing Rangers defender Bougherra

Malaga are lining up a bid for Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra.

The Sunday Mail says Qatari tycoon Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Thani wants the Algerian defender to spearhead a new era at the Spanish club.

The World Cup stopper still has two years left on his Ibrox deal but Gers' resolve will be tested with the La Liga side ready to slap in a £4million bid.

Malaga have recently been bought over by a consortium led by Al-Thani in a £20m deal and are ready to invest heavily in the club who narrowly escaped relegation on the final day of last season.

A source close to Bougherra said: "It would be a dream for Madjid to play in Spain but his focus is on the World Cup and then he'll decide his future."
