Mike Phelan is set to land the Hull City job fulltime.
The Daily Mail says Hull's takeover by Chinese investors is awaiting sign-off from the Premier League with a deal having been agreed in principle between the prospective new owners and the Allam family.
This process - which involves the 'fit and proper person' test - could yet run beyond the end of the transfer window and, as a result, both the outgoing and incoming regimes have to agree on all decisions involving player acquisitions and sales over the coming week.
Crucially, caretaker boss Phelan is also a key part of these discussions and he is likely be handed the role on a permanent basis.
