The new stadium to be built for MLS club Houston Dynamo is likely to have a very positive impact on local businesses.
The $95million project to be situated in the East End can only be good for the people according to Dynamo striker Brian Ching who is excited the development.
"It's like an old, run-down business area," Ching said, "but I think the stadium going down there is really going to help out and bring business to that area a lot more. We're just happy we're going to have our own place. Hopefully, I'll be a part of it.
"I think it's a great location," Ching added. "I'm just extremely excited that we got it downtown. Give credit to (Dyanmo general manager) Oliver (Luck). He could have made a decision to go to the suburbs any time, and he didn't. Being downtown adds a little to the credibility of a professional organization being right there."
Local business owner Gus Symeonidis, who owns the Texas Bar-B-Que House, said the stadium can only be good for business and was energized at the prospect.
"Soccer will bring a lot of fans here. And TSU, too," Symeonidis said. "It should bring a lot of business. In 1999 and 2000, all those construction workers would drive in and eat. They'd have different shifts, lunch and dinner. Then you've got your regular crowd. Hopefully, it will put more people to work.
"Once they break ground, hopefully we'll put in a drive-through window and hire new employees."
