New Genoa coach Ballardini seeking passion from players

New Genoa coach Davide Ballardini is seeking passion from his players.

Genoa is in shock after Gian Piero Gasperini was sacked four years into his tenure on Monday, so former Lazio Coach Ballardini has less than 48 hours to prepare for his first match.

"I watched Bologna a few times, especially on home turf," he said in his Press conference.

"They are organised and do not allow the opponents much room, including the big clubs. They also have some interesting players, such as Henry Gimenez and Marco Di Vaio."

Although there is a new tactician, Ballardini admits he will not have much choice in his starting XI.

"Tomorrow's picks will be pretty much forced upon me by injuries, especially in attack. Today I will get to know the team a little better, as so far there hasn't been time to see the players up close.

"Before we can see my Genoa, we need to work in training, so it'll be at least a couple of weeks.

"The important thing is that Genoa play the way they know how, with their usual intensity and unity. I want to see the aggressive spirit of the Grifone that this side was always associated with.

"Genoa have always given their all on home turf and the fans help the side. We face our opponents together."
