New England Revolution secures promising defender Sanchez

New England Revolution have confirmed the signing of draft selection Jossimar Sanchez.

The Revs took the 22-year old defender in the fourth round of the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft before inviting him back to train this preseason following an injury last year.

The former University of Connecticut captain starred for the Huskies during his four-year stint, making 74 appearances, and has been impressive in five preseason outings for the Revs this preseason.

Revolution general manager Michael Burns said in an official release that the club was thrilled to welcome Sanchez to the Gillette Stadium ahead of the 2014 MLS season.

"Jossimar is a young player who will provide depth for us," Burns said.

"He worked hard to return to full fitness after his injury in college, so we're pleased he's earned a spot on our roster this year."
