New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Reis has thanked everybody for the support shown for his father-in-law who was severely injured in the tragic Boston marathon bombing.
John Odom sustained injuries to his ribs and legs when the blast erupted in Copley Square and has undergone three surgeries to address the problem areas since.
Reis, who was also present on the day to watch his wife run in the marathon, said John was the only one of seven in his group who were injured and could only praise those that had wished him all the best in his recovery.
"Ex-teammates, coaches from other teams, everybody in the soccer community has reached out to me and expressed their condolences and support," Reis told MLSsoccer.com. "It's been amazing.
"I've said it before, the MLS player, the soccer player that's out there, is one of the best people on the planet. It just goes to show in tragic situations like this where they all come together and support each other. You might battle each other on the field, but you see a lot of support off the field with things people are going through or are affected by."
