New England Revolution have revealed that Shalrie Joseph's 'personal problems' are in fact his involvement in a substance abuse and behavioural health program.

Joseph has been granted 'indefinite leave of absence to attend to a personal matter' by the Revs and it has since been found out that it is not soccer-related or to do with contracts or injury.

Joseph left the team on Saturday and it is unknown when he or if he will return to the club.
