Steve Nicol will remain as head coach of MLS outfit New England Revolution after the club extended his contract.
The former Scotland defender has been in charge of the Revs since 2002 making him the longest-serving coach in the league and the Washington Post has reported that the has been signed to a new long-term deal.
Nicol, who made over 300 appearances for Liverpool, took over at New England during the 2002 season and led the club to the MLS Cup while taking Coach of the Year honours.
He has also led the team to at least the MLS Eastern Conference play-off quarter-finals every season since so it is a major coup for the club to keep him.
