New England Revolution land Bunbury from Sporting Kansas City

New England Revolution have brought in forward Teal Bunbury from MLS Cup champions Sporting Kansas City.

The Revs have acquired the 23-year old Canadian-born American centre-forward from SKC in exchange for their natural first-round draft pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft and allocation money.

Bunbury, who has one goal in four internationals for the USA, spent four years in Kansas City where he scored 19 times in 89 regular season MLS appearances including a breakout season in 2011 where he scored nine regular season goals plus two in the playoffs.

He comes to the Gillette Stadium with a great deal of potential as was highlighted by general manager Michael Burns.

"We've been very open about our desire to add some additional attacking players to our roster ahead of the season and we believe Teal is a player who can make the sort of impact we need," Burns said.

"He's a talented, young player who can add a dynamic element to our system, and we're looking forward to getting him into camp and integrated into our group as soon as possible."

Bunbury, who was part of Sporting's 2012 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup triumph, will get the opportunity to make his Revs debut when his new club faces Houston Dynamo in their 2014 MLS season opener on March 8.
