New England Revolution are chasing frozen out West Ham United striker Benni McCarthy.
The South Africa international did not make West Ham's Premier League squad list this week.
Former Liverpool midfielder Steve Nicol is the current manager of New England Revolution and he has started making enquiries about signing the striker.
McCarthy has made just six substitute appearances for Avram Grant's side this season, without scoring a single goal, after struggling with weight problems.
