New England Revolution boss Heaps targets US Open Cup glory

Jay Heaps won the 2007 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup with New England Revolution as a player and is now targeting the same trophy as a coach.

The Revs kick off their 2013 cup campaign on Tuesday night against Rochester Rhinos and the three-time finalist is determined to experience glory from the other side of the touchline this season.

"It's a great tournament," said Heaps. "I love it. I think it's unique.

"There's no question, we want to win the Open Cup. It's an area where we want to do well.

"You test your depth, you test your roster. For me, it actually comes at a good time because we're talking about all those players who are chomping for opportunities. Nothing says an opportunity like an Open Cup game and a chance to play against a pretty good team in Rochester."
