New England Revolution assistant manager Paul Mariner is being linked with a return to English club Plymouth Argyle.
The 56-year old, who is Steve Nicol's right-hand man at the Revs, played with Plymouth in the 1970s and may make a return, this time in a coaching capacity.
Reports suggest his appointment will be made official next week indicating a return to his homeland is imminent.
Mariner played as a striker with Plymouth before moving to Ipswich Town, Arsenal and Portsmouth.
Following his career in England, Mariner moved to America and played for the Albany Capitals, San Francisco Bay Blackhawks and Chorley before returning to England with Bury Town.
