New England embarrassed by Joseph comments

New England's Shalrie Joseph was in hot water after comments made about payback for Steve Ralston's broken leg. Joseph issued the following statement today on the New England Revolution website: "I want to apologize for my comments after our game on Saturday night against Kansas City. I was still caught up in the heat of the match. I regret implying that we were looking for payback. I know my comments don't reflect the feelings of my team mates or the club."

The club also made an official statement looking to distance itself from the comments: "We apologize for Shalrie Joseph's comments following our match on Saturday night. There was no concerted effort to single out any player on Kansas City's squad. We would never condone such behaviour or actions."

New England face Chicago in the first play-off game this week.
