Roberto Mancini's new deal at Manchester City is worth a clear £1 million-a-year more than Manchester United rival Sir Alex Ferguson's contract.
The Mirror says Mancini has agreed terms on a new £20million contract to overtake Ferguson as one of the best-paid Premier League bosses.
Mancini has given the thumbs up to Manchester City's offer of a four-year deal that will pay him £5m-a-season - £1m-a-year more than Fergie is on at Old Trafford - and the agreement is now in the hands of his Italian lawyers.
His legal team are going through the detail of the deal with a finetooth comb.
All that remains is for them to give Mancini the nod, and him to sign on the dotted line.
