Three players have extended their contracts with the Melbourne Victory, strengthening the club's future. Key defender Rodrigo Vargas and 21-year old midfielder, Evan Berger have both agreed to two year deals whilst young goalkeeper Mitch Langerak has signed for a further three years. It is an important time for clubs to secure their talent as the A-League plans for two new franchises next season as Melbourne Victory football manager Gary Cole told the Herald Sun. "It is a challenge with the new teams coming in," he said. "At the moment they've got nothing to do but sign new players, we're in the process of trying to play a competition. "In each of those cases they've all been approached by the new teams. "I can probably say quite accurately that they could have all made more money elsewhere, I think that's fair and reasonable, the new clubs need to be able to throw some carrots on the table. "We're a big strong club and it is harder to keep people, so credit to them they want to be a part of the Melbourne Victory Football Club."
