New China coach Camacho aims for 2014 World Cup

Newly appointed China national team coach Jose Antonio Camacho says that his ambition is to take the country to the 2014 World Cup finals. The 56-year-old former Spain international is not unfamiliar to pressure given his coaching experiences with European giants Real Madrid and Benfica and also led his country Spain to the quarter-finals at Euro 2000 and the 2002 World Cup finals.

"I know the goal will be taking the Chinese team to a new level and leading the team to the World Cup, so there's a lot of work to do and there's also challenge and pressure," Camacho told the Xinhua news agency.

"Me and my assistants came all the way from Spain and have been working around the clock every day since the negotiations. We want to know better about the country and the job."
