New chief executive for Football Association

Martin Glenn has been appointed the new chief executive of the Football Association. The CEO of United Biscuits replaces general secretary Alex Horne and will begin his new job at Wembley on 18 May.

"I have coached at grass-roots level, sat on the Board of a Premier League club and spent my time on the terraces at Molineux," said the 54 year old.

"I hope this informs my work at the FA as we look to inspire everyone to be involved in the nations most watched and played team sport."

In 1992 it was Glenn who first used England striker Gary Lineker in the marketing campaigns of Walkers crisps.

He has also worked for Cadbury Schweppes, Mars and Deloitte.
