New Blackburn boss Berg wants immediate promotion

Newly-appointed Blackburn Rovers manager Henning Berg has eyes immediately on the Premier League. The former Manchester United and Rovers defender was today unveiled as the new boss of the Ewood Park outfit and he plans to get them straight back up to the top flight following their relegation last campaign.

"I think we've got a very good chance of having success here," he told the club's official website. "Making sure that this club is back in the Premier League again.

"It is a good squad, with good players and I think we have a good chance.

"If we can get us all going in the same direction, get to know each other, get playing the right way then I'm sure that we will have a very good chance of going up.

"I know the owners are making big decisions, they are improving things with the signings they made in the summer, I think they are doing their bit to make sure this club is back in the Premier League.

"That is the main target, that is what we all want to achieve, everybody involved in this club, players, staff, fans, we all want to get out of this league and back into the Premier League because we have that chance."

Blackburn currently sits fifth on the Championship table ahead of this weekend's trip to fourth-placed Crystal Palace.
