New Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Adan proud of Arsenal heroics

New Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Antonio Adan was delighted with his heroics in their International Champions Cup win over Arsenal.

Despite a nightmarish start, in which he conceded a goal within his first few minutes on the pitch, Adan was spectacular in the penalty shootout as he stopped three penalties and scored the winner.

"I was excited about today's game, playing and doing it with this great team," he said.

"I was lucky to guess the three penalties correctly and to help the team win the game.

"We won, which is what's important, because even if it was a friendly we wanted to do it."

In addition, he wanted to assess the work of the entire Atletico team.

"The team were good," he continued.

"Physically we weren't the best because we have been training for just a few weeks, but the team responded well and we have to continue in this fashion."

To conclude, the goalkeeper spoke about the upcoming season.

"It's shaping up to be a very exciting season for all involved with Atletico," he said.

"We have to start little by little.

"It is the philosophy of this team, starting with the Valencia match, and from there we will see."
