New Ajax coach Martin Jol hopes to bring Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart back to the Dutch giants.

"I am always in contact with Van der Vaart," said Jol, who worked with the Holland international while in charge of Hamburg.

"I have great respect for him and know that he is in a difficult situation at Real Madrid.

"If his position becomes clear, then he may just come."
