Neville wants Man Utd, Liverpool to play kids in Cup

Manchester United legend Gary Neville says his old club and Liverpool should pick the kids for their Capital One Cup tie.

The match will mark Luis Suarez's return from suspension for Liverpool and the chance of revenge for United after their Premier League defeat.

Neville wrote in the Mail on Sunday: "It seems strange to say it but, in some ways, I'd prefer to see a group of the budding youngsters at both clubs playing.

"Some of the matches that were important to my development as a player were League Cup games. I remember a side that Sir Alex Ferguson put out at Port Vale in 1994 with myself, Nicky Butt, Keith Gillespie, David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Simon Davies. There was uproar as we were the second string but we won 2-1 with Paul scoring twice.

"But as Liverpool played such a strong team against Notts County, it would be crazy not to do the same at Old Trafford. And given that United's squad have 24 genuine first-team players, it will still be a team of established names."
