Former Manchester United and Everton favourite Phil Neville has turned down a move to Aston Villa.
The Telegraph says Neville was offered the No 2 role at Villa Park.
Villa are in the process of hiring a new manager, with Steve Bruce the bookmakers' favourite, and are said to have wanted Neville to work alongside their incoming boss.
The Villans sacked Roberto Di Matteo last Monday with the recently-relegated side sitting 19th in the Championship standings.
Neville was reportedly headhunted by Villa's chief executive Keith Wyness and technical director Steve Round, who both worked with him at Goodison Park.
But the 39-year-old, who worked at Valencia as assistant manager to brother Gary, declined Villa's offer as he looks to start his managerial career as a No 1.
