Former England captain Gary Neville has rapped West Ham defender Declan Rice over his international delays.

Rice is weighing up whether to commit to the Republic of Ireland or England.

“The idea of a country begging/trying to convince someone to represent them is wrong," argued Neville.

When posed with the fact it may be hard for young people to decide, Neville responded: “That's fine but this situation doesn't just creep up on you.

“You've had years to think about it with your family where your allegiance lies. Not just wait to see if a country's manager fancies you or not!"
