Everton captain Phil Neville admits he now feels closer to Goodison Park than former club Manchester United.
Neville admitted: "I never thought I would get United out of my system. But this is a special club and it sucks you in. Now I look at myself as an Everton player and the ex- Manchester United thing doesn't even come into my mind.
"That is how much I have ingrained myself into the club. Breaking into the top four here would be as big as anything I won at my previous club."
Howard Kendall's trophy-laden era back in the mid-80s is still the talk of the Gwladys Street faithful, though Neville wants that to change.
He added: "When I joined Everton, the first thing that struck me was all these great ex-players around the club. It's fantastic to meet them all. Graeme Sharp, Peter Reid, Kevin Sheedy, Adrian Heath, Derek Mountfield, Kevin Ratcliffe and, going back further, Dave Hickson.
"Yet there is a big gap between that bunch of players and now. When I see these ex-players in the corridor, I think to myself that I would like to be talked about and applauded in the same way they are.
"We need to start making our mark so people start talking about us instead. This club has had some success in the past but for the last 15 or 16 years it has had none. It is about time that changed. I would love my name to be mentioned in the same breath as Howard Kendall.
"David Moyes is probably the best manager this club has ever had, yet Howard was the one who won the trophies. So, from his point of view, he has to win a trophy to be mentioned in the same way."
