Neville frustrated as Valencia draw with Getafe

Valencia were held to a 2-2 draw by Getafe at the Mestalla as new head coach Gary Neville continued his wait for a first Primera Division victory.

All four goals were scored in the first half, with Getafe twice taking the lead through Pablo Sarabia and Angel Lafita only for Valencia to respond each time via Paco Alcacer and Santi Mina.

Valencia boss Neville has now drawn his first two league matches, while he has suffered a defeat in the Champions League and earned his sole victory in the Copa del Rey.

"We made the game difficult for ourselves" said Neville, who started his team out with an attacking 4-3-3 formation, “the counter-attack is a problem for us at the moment" he continued, making reference to the Lyon Champions League game that his team lost 2-0.

“It's a lot easier to run forwards than it is to run back in football, today we had to run back towards our own goal too many times.

“In the first half an hour of the second half we were in control, we had sustained attacks but in the last ten minutes the counter reappeared."
