Everton captain Phil Neville is eager to see Stephen Pienaar secured to a new contract.

The South Africa international has been linked with Bayern Munich this season.

Neville told the Telegraph: "Maybe the biggest problem is keeping the players we already have, people like Mikel Arteta and Steven Pienaar. Maybe keeping hold of Steven is the one signing we need in the summer.

"Hopefully we will tie him down on a long-term contract, because he is the most influential player at this club."

His cost?

"£2.5 million, initially on loan," remembers Neville.
