Neville criticises West Ham defender Rice over international decision

Former Manchester United player Gary Neville doesn't fancy the terms under which Declan Rice could choose to represent England at international level.

The West Ham defender played in youth ranks of the Republic of Ireland before representing them at senior level in three games.

However, those were all friendlies and now the Three Lions have approached the player, to the dislike of Neville.

"The idea of a country begging/trying to convince someone to represent them is wrong," the Sky Sports pundit said.

Neville was then confronted with the fact it may be hard for young people to decide.

"That's fine but this situation doesn't just creep up on you.

"You've had years to think about it with your family where your allegiance lies. Not just wait to see if a country's manager fancies you or not!"
