Nelsen set to leave QPR to take over at Toronto FC

Ryan Nelsen is expected to depart QPR on February 1 to begin his role as head coach at Toronto FC.

The New Zealand international will play his final match for the R's at Loftus Road against Manchester City next week before heading to Canada to begin the next phase of his career in MLS.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp has been loath to lose the former Blackburn Rovers and Tottenham man as he has been one of the clubs best this season as the West Londoners sit at the foot of the Premier League table.

Nelsen was unveiled as TFC's new boss on January 8 and will begin his tenure with the struggling outfit sooner than expected.
