Socceroos skipper Lucas Neill now thinks his side deserves to be favourites to qualify in Group A of Asian World Cup qualifiers. After accounting for Qatar 4-0 on Wednesday night and placing a two-point gap on the rest of the field, Neill believes that the Aussies should rightly be described as favourites but has conceded that there is no complacency. Speaking to the Herald Sun after the match, Neill said, "We have to say that we are (favourites). "We have won two from two and we're leading the group. We've got a lot of home games to come later on, we're strong home and away and we've got a goal difference of five goals. "So yes, all this means that we've made a statement today. But it will count for nothing if we do not win the next game in Bahrain or at least get a point." The fact that Japan drew at home to Uzbekistan, who the Socceroos beat away, buoyed Neill's confidence. "It was a good night for us. It really could not get any better," he added. "Uzbekistan are still in it and they will need to win all their games at home, which is going to be great for us. Our three points in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) are looking fantastic now."
