Neill happy for West Ham to bore their way into Europe

Upton Park manager Alan Curbishley has been attacked by the club's fans for his tactics, but Neill says: "People want to be entertained and get their money's worth - I understand that.

"As a player, you have to show a professional approach and get the job done. The first thing that goes is usually the entertainment side which brings frustration on the terraces. If you look at our 'entertaining' season last year, it was all about a rollercoaster and seven out of nine wins at the end of the season. But we were fighting relegation.

"I am now quite happy to be on 40 points with 12 games to go and have a different type of pressure.

"If we can be entertaining, that's a bonus, but let's entertain more next year when we can attract even better players. We have not lost by more than two goals this season. Last year, we lost 6-0 at Reading along with a few other heavy defeats.

"If we win six out of the next 10 games 1-0, I'd be delighted. We are not blessed with the talent of Manchester United. If that means we have to win ugly 1-0, I'd take 10 ugly wins every season."
