Neill declares himself fit for Australia and Asia Cup qualifiers

New Everton signing Lucas Neill will return to captain Australia in the country's crucial Asian Cup Qualifiers against Oman both at home and away in October and November respectively. Despite the fact that he is yet to play a game this season for either club or country, the 31 year old has committed himself to the two upcoming crunch qualifiers.

"One-hundred per cent I'll be back for both games," Neill told The Daily Telegraph. "I'll be 99 per cent fit, match fit I mean, and be ready to go and pick up where we left off.

"...Oman is a game the country needs to win if we're going to make the Asian Cup.

"It's been a disappointing qualifying period so far, and it would be suicide if we didn't qualify for the Asian Cup."

The former Blackburn and West Ham defender also remains focused on an impending participation at the 2010 World Cup, for which Australia has already qualified.

He continued, "That's always in the back of your head, something that you want to gear towards, so my focus is basically on the next 10 months.

"I want to replicate 2006 and have another fantastic World Cup with Australia.

"I feel I'm at a club now where I can reach those levels."
