Alvaro Negredo was pleased to make his debut for Manchester City in their win over South China last night.
He played the last 25 minutes after replacing Yaya Toure and almost marked the occasion with a goal, volleying just over the bar.
Negredo said: "I'm very happy. It was good to get going and get some time playing with the lads. The opposition weren't very difficult but I got some minutes and I really enjoyed it.
"I was close to scoring but the result is not important, it's more important to get fit for the start of the Premier League. The pitch wasn't in great condition but that's something we can't control."
He added: "I'm very happy, overwhelmed. It's a team with a lot of top players and they've been extremely friendly to me. I'm happy to be here as part of the team."
