Negredo prepared to accept Man City bench role

Alvaro Negredo was delighted to get on the scoresheet in Manchester City's nervy 2-0 win over Hull City.

The 28-year-old striker, whose 65th-minute header put City in front and gave them the platform for victory, admitted he will not be content with cameo roles from the bench.

"Of course it's hard being on the bench, but that's how things are at the moment," said Negredo.

"The manager has decided that Edin (Dzeko) will start, so all I can do to try to change that is to keep on working in training and be ready whenever he calls on me from the bench.

"He [Pellegrini] hasn't said anything at all to me. He's just said that Edin is playing from the start, so all I can do is work.

"I'll never get used to being on the bench, obviously, but that's the same for everyone - we all want to play and only 11 can, and it's up to the manager to decide.

"But each goal means the team gets a win, it helps me keep my confidence up and makes sure I keep improving.

"I like it [the Premier League]. It's just what I was expecting - a lot of coming and going and the players have so much quality that they can keep the ball.

"There are lots of changes of possession and it's very intense. But I'm happy, it's to my taste and hopefully I'll keep getting better."
