Negredo: Family members cried with joy over Valencia move

Alvaro Negredo admits his move to Valencia has gone down well with his family.

The former Manchester City striker made the surprise switch on Monday's deadline day.

He revealed: "One member of my family started crying when they found out that I would be joining Valencia. My father-in-law used to be a season ticket holder but had to stop going to Mestalla for reasons regarding his work. That was another reason for me to come here.

"I'm not making any sacrifices because I've come back to my country; I was happy and settled at Manchester City but this move has come about due to the circumstances. Valencia's President and Rufete have taken a chance on me. I've come here to work hard and recover as soon as possible."

Negredo added: "I am where I want to be; the club have shown they believe in me. I hope that we can get back into Europe where is where Valencia deserves to be."
