NBA star Nash keen to buy into Spurs: But no takeover

NBA star Steve Nash admits he's interested in getting involved at Tottenham.

Reports from the United States, where Nash plays for the Phoenix Suns, claimed that he is about to form part of a consortium bidding to buy the Barclays Premier League club.

But the lifelong Spurs fan, whose father, John, is from Tottenham, has no aims to buy out Daniel Levy, the chairman.

"I would love to own Spurs but I don't have a spare £300 million in my back pocket so it's not going to happen," Nash, 33, said. "I have a friendship with the Spurs sporting director, Damien Comolli, and, through him, have had the chance to meet Daniel.

"When my career is over, I would love to think there might be the chance of being involved with the club in some capacity. I have a lot of experience in many aspects of professional sports, so who knows? I would be excited and proud if that could ever happen."
