NBA’s Utah Jazz express congratulations to Real Salt Lake
Utah’s most famous sporting team, NBA’s Jazz, have congratulated the state’s soccer team for their brilliant championship win on Sunday.
Real Salt Lake overcame glamour club the LA Galaxy in penalties to clinch the 2009 MLS Cup and the success has not been overlooked by members of the Utah Jazz.
“Congratulations to them," Andrei Kirilenko said. "I know nobody will take it like too serious, but it's really a big deal. MLS is the biggest league in America and Real came as a new team and probably the youngest team to ever win."
"That's good for them," Kyle Korver added. "That's awesome. Good for Salt Lake. Obviously, I wish it was us trying to win that championship, but at the same time, that's a great story for them."
Mehmet Okur, who has attended a RSL game, said the fact they defeated a team led by David Beckham and Landon Donovan was a fantastic achievement.
"How about that?" Okur said. "They beat a great team and good players. Is the city excited about it?"
