National Youth League update - Round 9

The National Youth League continued on its merry way this weekend with another successful round of matches. The battle of the two bottom teams began on Saturday and it ended a 1-1 draw between Melbourne Victory and the Central Coast Mariners.

Milos Lujic equalised in the 56th minute after Mariners first team player Nik Mrdja opened in the 42nd minute.

The match also saw the return of Mariners midfielder Andre Gumprecht who is finding fitness after a long-term injury.

Sydney FC travelled to Hindmarsh Stadium to keep their unbeaten run alive by beating Adelaide United 1-0.

It was the Sky Blues seventh win from as many matches and sees them sit six points clear on the league table.

In a one-sided affair, Queensland Roar trounced Perth Glory 5-1 thanks to a Chris Grossman hat-trick to jump to second on the table.

The trio of goals sees Grossman hit the lead in the NYL golden boot race.

He now has eight in seven matches.
