North American Soccer League chiefs are looking at the prospect of having more young players sent on loan from Major League Soccer.
North America's second division took 11 players from the top flight for short and long-term loans in 2012 and it is now a goal of the NASL to allow more inexperienced players to develop their game in a professional environment.
"We know for a fact there are some really quality players on MLS rosters that don't get enough playing time to become better players," NASL Commissioner David Downs told MLSsoccer.com.
"We believe if they were playing in our league in front of 4,000 to 6,000 fans, with real men in real competition, that's a better situation for them."
The likes of Bryan Arguez (Montreal Impact to Edmonton FC), Conor Shanosky (DC United to Fort Lauderdale Strikers), Michael Tetteh (Seattle Sounders to Strikers) and Josue Soto (Houston Dynamo to San Antonio Scorpions) have all spent time in NASL this season and have done so well that the second division hierarchy are hoping for more agreements of a similar nature.
