Manchester City are attempting to thrash out terms with Napoli over a fee for Edinson Cavani.

PSG chief Leonardo denied interest in Cavani last week, leaving the race to City and Real Madrid for his transfer.

The Manchester Evening News says City are not prepared to pay the full £52m which triggers a release clause for the Napoli star, which means there is some hard bargaining ahead.

Reports in Italy suggest City have mooted the possibility of Micah Richards, who they value at £15m, being part of the deal.

The Blues remain tight-lipped on that suggestion, and Richards wants to remain at City, where he has been since he was 14.
