Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has sacked coach Roberto Donadoni and replaced him with Walter Mazzarri.

"I had to make the situation clear to myself above all others," revealed De Laurentiis. "I thought back over the last five years where we did some things right, but also many mistakes.

"Now we will start up again, because there is no longer any time to lose. This is a project and not a fling for me.

"Beforehand I put faith in those who knew football better than I did, so I focused only on the economic factors," continued the movie producer.

"But in these five years I have discovered these elements are interdependent. To qualify for Europe we need a different organisation to the one we had.

"For this reason, I have now chosen people more suited to the situation, at least in my view."
