Napoli are driving to close a deal for Sevilla midfielder Gary Medel.

El Diario de Sevilla reports Napoli and the player are considering invoking FIFA's Article 17 ruling.

This is a ruling from FIFA that allows any player after a set period in their contract to buy out the remainder of their wages so as to sever ties with their club.

One of the more recent notable examples of a player using this rule is when Sevilla signed Morgan De Sanctis on a free transfer, after he bought out the remainder of his Udinese contract. De Sanctis is now on Napoli's books.
