Napoli president De Laurentiis takes aim at money-wasters Man City

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has taken a swipe at Champions League opponents Manchester City after this week's 1-1 draw.

The Italian movie mogul called for UEFA to put even tighter controls on big-spending teams like City, but admitted that it made taking a point away from the Etihad Stadium even more satisfying.

"Does Michel Platini (UEFA president) want to make this financial fair play rule or not?" questioned De Laurentiis. "Is it going to be respected? In any case, I have fun challenging money-wasters.

"Here a draw is like a victory and we deserve high praise. People had said that City and their cousins United are the candidates to win the Premier League and it would be really hard for Napoli.

"It didn't go like this and if it weren't for a few errors, we could have won. I'm almost glad we conceded as it will give us time to think things over and not get convinced we're too perfect."
