Napoli want to play Diego Maradona's Argentina in a friendly at the San Paolo.

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis extended an invitation to Maradona yesterday.

"Dearest Diego, it is so exciting to see you on the touchline as the Coach of a great national team," declared the patron in a note on the club's official website.

"Your charisma storms the pitch and is transmitted to your players, proving contagious for the spectators too.

"Your dream shows just how much you are still tied to our colours. It'd be wonderful to embrace you in a friendly at the San Paolo with your Argentina and the gate donated to charity.

"It would represent a great moment of celebration for all the Napoli fans."
